"Being a tall Black woman in ballet, I have always been sort of the unicorn or the standout person. And so it felt right," said Graf Mack, who at 17 became a breakout star with the Dance Theatre of Harlem. "I want them to be as versatile as they can so that they have longevity in their careers. And you can start with a ballet company or on Broadway," said Graf Mack."They can be well versed in many different languages of dance, but if they don't understand how they can all be integrated and work together, then we have, you know, an issue."
