I couldn’t get through the Biden part - stopped watching at the first audience question. Carey isn’t t a very good Biden. He’s just Carey.
For a show that knows just how nuts Trump is, nbcsnl seems to be working awfully hard to deny exactly what we love about Joe. Maybe JimCarrey and the writers should’ve riffed on something that felt more like Jack Palance at the Oscars. Parody is one thing, fiction is another.
I'm not sure if I like Jim Carrey playing Biden. Something rubs me the wrong way with it. I love him as a comedian, I love his art work, I love the look he has as Biden, but something just seems off to me. I feel he is playing Biden as somewhat of a fool.
Jim Carrey is a talented guy but his “Clint Eastwood on Prozac” version of Biden isn’t working, mainly due to the scripts. Joe is a kindly, earnest guy, who believes most people are innately good. THAT is where to find an impression of him. nbcsnl’s writers have to learn this.
