Washington Post opinion columnist Karen Attiah raised eyebrows on social media Tuesday when she argued that 'many will not survive' unless there is a shift in cultural and political systems in the country. In a lengthy thread on X, Attiah said the last few months have been 'clarifying' after referencing the ongoing war in Gaza. She went on to warn 'marginalized communities' and minorities to 'divest' from institutions and systems in the U.S.
In October, Attiah was dragged on social media after arguing in a column that, 'we cannot stand and watch Israel commit atrocities.' She wrote that Palestinians were 'rightfully' pointing out 'that their own pain and deaths under the actions of the Israeli state have been ignored for years' following Hamas' unprecedented terrorist attack against Israel and argued that the U.S. can't let Israel retaliate.
