Seager, the runner-up in the AL MVP race in 2023, has not put any target date on a return from the Jan. 30 surgery after a regimen of rest did not produce results. Earlier this week, he said he is continuing to prepare as if he will be ready to start the season because it would be “irresponsible” to do it any other way.The Rangers have a history of Seager returning from injury without long minor-league rehab assignments.
“It’s a little bit different now, I’ll go with that,” Bochy said. “It does take time to build up the strength and everything. And that’s why we will have to look at and evaluate, how the bat feels. It’s got to be in a place where it’s comfortable for him and I think it will be. But it’s just not the same as our experience we’ve seen with him when he’s come back.”Jung has been taking swings in minor league games for much of this week and is starting to do some light running on his calf.
