) - The Stockton community is coming together to start healing, following the deadly mass shooting during May Day.18 people were shot. Three of those victims have died.is planned for Wednesday night on the same grounds where the tragedy took place.Their families have identified them as 18-year-old Michael Anderson Jr., 24-year-old Christian Bradley, and 37-year-old Chiquita Ewing.
Dione Williams, one of the vigil organizers, says it’s time for the Stockton community to face the trauma that happened there. “Just like the phoenix that rises, this community we’re resilient, and we will rise from the ashes,” Williams said. “But we need to come together as a community in order to start the healing process and move forward to turn the page.”She says it was difficult to go back but wants everyone to know they are not alone.
“It is not just for the community, the Stockton community, it’s for the community at large to come out and help just wrap your arms around us...the victim’s families,” Williams said.Jackson says he received the devasting call that his nephew, Christian Bradley was killed.“To know Christian was to love Christian,” Jackson said. “That’s just the type of person he was. He was amazing. He was a blessing. I was blessed to have him 24 years in my life.
“My heart says it absolutely should continue. It is a part of the fabric of this community it is tradition. We just may have to do it a little differently moving forward,” Williams said.Copyright 2024 WALA. All rights reserved.
