May Day marchers take to Seattle streets on International Workers' Day

A couple of hundred people gathered in Seattle ’s Westlake Park as part of a May Day rally for workers’ rights on May 1, 2024. The celebration of International Workers’ Day included multiple groups and causes on this occasion. People calling for workers' rights shared the stage with advocates for several other causes during a May Day march through Seattle on Wednesday.

“The May Day march has always connected migrants' rights and workers' rights together, but then also seeing this as part of the global issues so uplifting the rights and calls of Palestinian labor unions as well,” said Jessica Rojas with International Migrants Alliance. One theme regularly repeated by the demonstrators is that workers keep society running but too many lack sufficient wages to lead a dignified life of their own.
