In this episode of Youthquake, we're shining a light on Shukri Lawrence, co-creator of the Palestinian label Trashy Clothing.

There’s a changing of the guard in fashion and culture. Gen Z creators are pushing the conversation forward in ways both awe-inspiring and audacious. Our latest project,

, invites you to discover how these artists, musicians, actors, designers, and models are radically reimagining the future., has been a growing force in the Middle Eastern fashion world since 2017. Lawrence and his co-designer, Omar Braika, have grown to viral popularity over the years with a combination of saucy fashion, cheeky pop-culture references, and political messages.

The 23-year-old, East Jerusalem native grew up on a steady diet of mid-aughts Fashion Television. “I would be watching a Vivienne Westwood show after a Dsquared2 backstage interview clip with the models saying the iconic ‘Hello, Fashion TV’ phrase in different accents,” says Lawrence. “I was obsessed and wanted to be part of that world.”

While Lawrence’s early years were lived obsessively online, the Internet also gave way to his design ambitions. In 2010, Lawrence recalls using IMVU, described as an “online metaverse and social networking site,” where he would dress up his avatar and chat with strangers from around the world. “Ever since then, I connected design with the digital world. The idea of creating something unconventionally onscreen and before implementing it in real life stuck with me,” he says.

The three types of supplements you should never buyThe discovery of vitamins fundamentally changed our culture's relationship with health, nutrition, and mealtime. Besides the warnings on manufacturing vitamins this article was a waste of time. Did I miss something? What are the three types of vitamins to avoid? This is a tangentially related interview about other topics not described in the title. Incredibly annoying imo. What a waste of time. Bad read!
