Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell says the criticism he received over a comment made about African American voters is outrageous and offensive.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell pushed back Friday against the uproar, calling the criticism directed his way "outrageous."

"I’ve never been accused of this sort of thing before, and it’s hurtful and offensive," he said. "And I think some of the critics know it’s totally nonsense." When asked what he would say to those who had been offended by his words, McConnell said he would discuss his record relating to voting rights, and brought up his role as a mentor to Kentucky’s Attorney General Daniel Cameron, who is Black and one of many Republicans who came to the minority leader's defense this week.

Voting rights fight shifts back to statehouses as Senate Democrats fail to advance national protectionsJust weeks from the first primaries of the 2022 midterm elections, the fight over voting rights is unfolding again at the state level -- with Republicans in several swing states proposing new measures that would make it harder to vote. How does CNN keep spreading these lies about voting rights? State laws have stood the tests of multiple courts and there is no proof of their making it harder to vote. Just prove who you are, simple as that. Harder to vote?Voter ID makes it harder to vote.No ballot harvesting makes it harder to voteThey already cheated to get this disaster in the Whitehouse, so it's time for vindication!! Not harder...just more rule following. It's what most sensible folks want.

Voting bill collapses in Senate after Democrats fall short in attempt to change filibuster rulesVoting legislation that Democrats and civil rights leaders say is vital to protecting democracy collapsed when two senators refused to join their own party in changing Senate rules to overcome a Republican filibuster. Show a proof of citizenship, get an ID card and you get to vote. If one can’t manage that easy process, they shouldn’t vote because they wouldn’t understand what they were voting for. Simple! Funny how The Tribune is steering clear of Biden’s disastrous press conference. The failed progressive movement is officially dead. Dear oh Mitch McConnell playing dumb again. So, Trump's plan to have a few Republicans vote illegally in Democrat dominated districts, so that Republican controlled state legislatures can CANCEL that district's vote remains on track. Senate Republican filibuster blocks Democrats' voting rights billVoting legislation that Democrats and civil rights groups argue is vital for protecting democracy has been blocked by a Republican filibuster. Yet it’s not racist to need ID to stand in line for 6 hours to get a forced Covid test. If needing ID to vote is racist, then it’s racist to rent an apartment or buy a home, racist to board an airplane, even every store isn’t he US is racist, ESPECIALLY if you need CIGGS or beer 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 The real question is why did Reps vote for these things just a few years ago and now -ZERO- support it now? And if you say it's a dem plot, you haven't read it or understand what was passed before.
