Scarlet Witch's 'death' in Doctor Strange 2 isn't something she can't come back from in Phase 6, but that doesn't mean she should be brought back.

Rather than Scarlet Witch return for another adventure alongside the Avengers, it would be better if the character remained dead in the MCU. Played by Elizabeth Olsen, Wanda Maximoff seemingly died at the end of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, the ambiguity surrounding her death scene makes a return possible.

For those reasons and more, Scarlet Witch is a beloved character, but that doesn’t change the fact that her fate was deserved in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Though what Wanda did to the people of Westview was horrible, she never reached a point of no return in WandaVision. She crossed that line in Doctor Strange 2 when she began killing people who got in her way. Various Masters of the Mystic Arts died at her hand, as did the entire Illuminati team of Earth-838.

Of course, that’s not to say that Scarlet Witch’s ending is a problem. It was certainly interesting to see a hero’s descent into villainy. And based on everything she went through, the decisions she arrived at in WandaVision and Doctor Strange 2 made sense for her character. Plus, her death is a poignant reminder that redemption isn’t necessarily in the cards for every fallen hero’s story; ultimately redemption is a choice, and not everyone makes the right one when the time comes.
