San Marcos officials have released the identify of a man shot and killed by a police officer last week. Malachi Williams , 22, was killed in the shooting, which occurred Thursday night near East Hopkins Street and Thorpe Lane . One officer is currently on administrative leave, city spokeswoman Lauren Surley said. The officer’s name will not be released until a grand jury review is complete, she said. Two men called 911 about 9:30 p.m.

San Marcos police say officers tried to use a Taser to stop Williams but were unsuccessful, then shot him as he continued running toward a nearby business carrying a knife.
