SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio Water System customers will see changes to their watering schedules following new rules approved by the City Council.

The updated regulations, effective immediately, aim for more enforcement and promote water conservation amidst the ongoing drought. “These changes create a more fair and efficient system for all of our customers – even those that reside outside of San Antonio city limits,” explained SAWS Vice President of Conservation Karen Guz. “San Antonio is in the fifth year of drought, and we are seeing Edwards Aquifer water levels continue to drop.”

SAWS is implementing new watering times, fees for waste, surcharges for heavy users, and reduced drip system use to conserve water during the drought. Watering hours are now 5 am to 10 am and 9 pm to midnight. Also now instead of citations violators will now receive fines directly on their bill starting at 100 dollars for a first offense.
