Staff Reports Wicksburg held off a late Dothan rally to earn a 7-6 win at the Dothan campus in high school baseball action on Tuesday night.
Wicksburg, which improved to 9-2 on the season, was led by Easton Dean, who had a two-run double. Gabe Glover also had a double and also reached on two walks and had two stolen bases. Peyton Bryan scored on the back end of a steal with Glover. The teams finished regulation tied at 1-1. The Bears scored in the top of the ninth on Austyn Miller’s RBI sac fly, but the Knights rallied with two runs. Reid Underwood singled home Noah Miller for the first run before the bases-loaded walk to Hicks provided NMA the win.
Miller, Cottonwood’s starting pitcher, struck out 12 and allowed only five hits and a run in six innings. Eli McCord went 2 1/3 innings, giving up one runs, two hits and two walks with one strikeout.Zion Chapel 5, New Brockton 4: Zion Chapel reliever Brady Flowers got a strikeout with the tying runner at second base to secure the Zion Chapel win.
For New Brockton, Blake Peterson was 2-for-4 with a double and three runs batted in and T Smith was 2-for-3 with one RBI.
