One-quarter of working individuals say they have no retirement savings at all, the survey said, and 44% worry that their saving isn’t on track. Among younger workers, aged 18 to 29, 42% have nothing set aside, and only 26% believe they are adequately prepared for retirement.
Who’s fault is that?
If you have a job and no medical issues then you are not too bright if you can not dave in this country 🤷♂️
I used to have money. Then I got married.
They have a high tendency to consume and a low tendency to save. Replace the federal income tax with a national consumption tax and this problem would be solved quickly. It would also increase investment and reduce or eliminate the trade deficit.
Could it be that they are finally working and haven’t had an opportunity to save for retirement yet?
And yet how many have the latest iPhone, tablet, computer or Tv? How many hit Starbucks 3 or more times a week? They need to make better choices.
My grandfather told me 60 yrs ago. Take 10% of what you make & put it in a savings account. 10% not much. Easy to do for anybody anywhere. If a person does not want to, they won't. It's that simple.
I did have some savings. Then I lost my job.
That means 75% have retirement savings. That's awesome made possible with jobs jobs jobs. Want more savings? Enough jobs to have two so you can get ahead.

Yea...that happens when the government allows atrocities within fannie freddie that collapses the economy and cause 23 million foreclosures, erode 18 trillion in housing equity and shed 8 million jobs. Wages are exactly same now as in 2007.

Saving is hard to do when you don't make enough money, paying extremely high rent, high utility cost, high food cost, and those are just the things you can't go without.. Millions are struggling, and in this country that shouldn't happen!!

Low wages for non college grads likely due to slightly too much, uncontrolled immigration over past 30+ years. Immigrant portion of workforce inc from 6% to 17%. Only small decrease in immigration should result in additional wage and benefit gains for non college grads
Not exactly true is it? Remember that there is Social Security. So there is retirement funds. Just not as much as people want.
It’s not the income, it’s the discretionary outflows that is preventing retirement savings.
What a joke! A 'booming' job market with wages and salaries so low that most families and/or single persons can not survive on.
