The Austin Fire Department posted about the incident on X at 1:19 a.m. It happened in the 11000 block of Indianhead Drive near the intersection with East Braker Lane .
Firefighters were able to pull the person from the building. The person was then evaluated by Austin-Travis County EMS medics. According to ATCEMS, the person was in cardiac arrest. Medics attempted to resuscitate them but were unsuccessful.Officials haven’t confirmed to CBS Austin the identity of the person, but a woman we spoke to says the person was a man, and she’s heartbroken to hear he lost his life.Stall says she knew the man who lived in the house the fire happened at for years.“It’s really unbelievable to drive up and see it.
“We talked to the tenants, and they are doing well,” Stall said. “They both got out safely and are working with the Red Cross. Hug the ones you love and tell them that you love them."
