It was never a good idea to make a superhero game like this into a live service looter. Namely because there kind ofno such thing as loot in this game, tangible objects you wear or wield. Every drop in this game has no cosmetic functionality. It’s not Borderlands getting wild guns. It’s not Destiny getting cool armor sets. It’s getting like, new rib cages for Hulk. It’s getting new shields for Captain America , new guns for Black Widow .
Then there’s the actual, practical reality of making a AAA live service game. The amount of content you need to keep the game relevant is enormous. Avengers had this extremely ambitious schedule of new heroes every few months and a constant supply of new missions and yearly expansions. They did the best they could, but there were so, so many delays and yawning gaps of dead time when the reality of fixing the base game and generating new content hit.
