Bryan K. Horton was wanted on drug delivery charges when, for reasons that still aren't entirely clear, he was shot during a police stop near 19th and Derry Streets in Harrisburg on Saturday, June 22.

The man shot by Harrisburg police during an attempted arrest on June 22 has been released from the hospital and is now being held in Dauphin County Prison, authorities said Friday.has been released from the hospital and committed to Dauphin County Prison on some underlying drug charges he was wanted for.

Chardo said earlier this week that Horton was hit multiple times, the most serious injury being a neck wound. Matt Maisel, a spokesman for Harrisburg Mayor Wanda Williams, confirmed Friday that four city officers involved in the 19th and Derry incident are on desk duty pending the conclusion of Chardo’s investigation.

The Harrisburg man, according to past court filings, was first arrested as an adult at age 18, when he was convicted of several drug trafficking counts in the city that netted him a two-to-five year sentence in the state prison system. But the longest prison term came after a 2012 arrest, this time on federal drug charges, for which Horton was sentenced to 11 years and eight months behind bars. With time off for good behavior, he was released in August 2022.
