Letters to the Editor — Total eclipse, Ramadan, New York police, Boeing, AI

Readers say the eclipse was refreshing because we all got along; say the fighting in Israel dampens the spirit of Ramadan; point out Dallas has higher crime than New York; and support AI.

This year, the light feels dimmer because of the catastrophes occurring around the world. Although a month of peace and compassion, to some it seems that the people of Palestine are not deserving of this peace.These humans are starving to the point of having to eat lemons and grass to break their fast. I believe that they are the victims of international war crimes day after day.The pain that we feel about this affects the way the month of Ramadan is occurring.

Next time Van Duyne decides to “help” North Texas with an ad, I hope that instead of just repeating right-wing talking points she’ll actually try fact-checking it first.This letter is about Saturday’s editorial cartoon showing an elephant and donkey not crossing the line to get to immigration reform. Once again, the media is pushing false equivalence regarding the Republican and Democratic positions on the border issue.

Perhaps in the past we could rely on honest leadership and intelligent regulation to keep the duopoly in check, but Boeing has since chosen a different path. Even the rapacious airlines have started to complain.
