Letters to the Editor

Readers say there’s too much politics in the Sherman ISD; praise the post office; dispute a writer’s theories about campus protests; and don’t support parking minimums and noncompete laws.

I don’t use the mail as often as I used to, as I do all things financial online, but how great is it that we can put a thank-you or birthday or sympathy card in the mail and have it dependably delivered in two to five days for 68 cents. Assuming Wrobel’s figure of the Postal Service’s $6.5 billion loss in 2023 is correct, that is a mere 0.38% of the overall $1.7 trillion federal budget for that year.

An employee’s best skill matches for a new job often would be in the same position in the same industry. A noncompete wipes out their best job prospects, allowing businesses to trap employees in dead-end jobs. This becomes even more problematic as companies increasingly look outward for replacements, rather than promoting from within.
