Kendleton man Melvin Harris, 53, was sentenced to life in prison for continuous sexual abuse of a young child.A Kendleton man has been sentenced to life in prison for continuous sexual abuse of a young child over about nine years, the Fort Bend County District Attorney’s Office said in a press release.
The abuse came to light when the victim, then 19, told about it to her psychotherapist, who informed the authorities as required by law. The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services reported the abuse to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office in May 2020. “In a case lacking physical evidence due to the delayed disclosures, the jury recognized the power of the victims’ voices not only when they found the defendant guilty but also when sentencing him to life in prison,” said prosecutor Jessica Ramos.
