The East Bay SPCA is urgently seeking adopters, foster owners and those who can take out large dogs on day trips or for sleepovers in their care.These large dogs have been with the nonprofit organization for weeks or months and are struggling in the organization’s Oakland and Dublin shelter environments despite the group’s best efforts to provide them with the attention and care they need.

Piedmont voters can submit their ballots by mail or at any of the county registrar of voters’ 66 official secure ballot drop boxes across Alameda County. Ballots mailed through the post office must be postmarked by March 5. This election’s voter registration deadline is Feb. 20. If you’re already registered, check your registration status before Feb. 20 to confirm that your information is correct. You’ll need to reregister if you have moved, changed your name, or wish to change your political party preference.

A greeting will take place at 9:30 a.m., followed by refreshments, and the program will start at 10 a.m. RSVP online for the in-person or Zoom meeting atNow through Feb. 21, Piedmont homeowners can apply for a state retrofit grant of up to $3,000 to help make their houses more resistant to earthquakes. More than 1.2 million homes in high seismic hazard areas of California, including Piedmont, are particularly vulnerable to earthquake damage because of how they were built.

Once registration closes, grant recipients will be selected through a random drawing. Recipients will be notified via email if they have been selected or placed on the wait list. Those selected will need a building permit from the city of Piedmont to complete the retrofit.
