Piedmont’s City Council has directed staff to immediately recruit an additional 911 dispatcher if voters approve Measure F, a proposed renewal and increase of the longstanding City Services Tax on next week’s election ballot.The council provided the direction after receiving a midyear status update Feb. 20 on the city budget from Finance Director Mike Szczech. Staffing in Piedmont’s 911 dispatch center has remained unchanged since 1978.

• the tax rate would be increased by 20%, which amounts to an additional $11 to $19 a month, to provide funding for the new dispatcher positions as well as future technology investments, such as expansion of the Automated License Plate Reader program; These large dogs have been with the nonprofit organization for weeks or months and are struggling in the organization’s Oakland and Dublin shelter environments despite the group’s best efforts to provide them with the attention and care they need.

Responses will help city officials better understand baseline levels of preparedness among our community, where gaps exist and how they can best support more residents in taking important steps to prepare for disasters. The survey asks Piedmont residents:• what barriers keep them from becoming better prepared;Responses will inform city officials’ future education, outreach and programming as they strive to build a more prepared and resilient Piedmont.
