Hollywood filmmakers are boycotting Georgia over 'heartbeat' abortion bill

Georgia’s Republican Gov. Brian Kemp, center, signs legislation, Tuesday, May 7, 2019, in Atlanta, banning abortions once a fetal heartbeat can be detected, which can be as early as six weeks before many women know they’re pregnant. Three independent production companies have announced they won’t do business in the state after the governor signed the “heartbeat” bill. By Steven Zeitchik Steven Zeitchik Reporter covering the business of entertainment in the U.S.

The controversy stems from Georgia’s Living Infants Fairness and Equality Act, which could ban abortions as early as six weeks into pregnancy. Gov. Brian Kemp on Tuesday signed the bill, considered one of the most restrictive in the country. The law will go into effect on Jan. 1 if it is not stopped by the courts.

Actress Alyssa Milano, front right, poses with film industry workers and pro-abortion rights supporters after delivering a letter to Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp's office detailing her opposition to HB 481 at the State Capitol, Tuesday, April 2, 2019, in Atlanta. HB 481 would ban almost all abortions after a fetal heartbeat can be detected.

According to the state’s film commission, in the most recent fiscal year there was direct spending of $2.7 billion in Georgia as the industry took advantage of the credit offered by the state. Georgia has flourished as Disney, Sony, MTV, Lionsgate and numerous other companies have shot films there. “Hunger Games” movies were shot there, as were “Black Panther” and TV’s “The Walking Dead.”

Actress Alyssa Milano, who is shooting the Netflix series “Insatiable” in Georgia, has been among those outspoken about the state’s legislation. She added: “Thousands of actors and film crew members converge on Georgia every year, and we hope to continue to do so. But we require a safe working environment with respect, tolerance, and love. All artists, especially women, must feel welcome.”

Hollywood is an actual city in California and that state is doing just fine 🤣🤣🤣

good, more please

It’s funny that the independent film companies who are boycotting the state already don’t do business there. In light of this pseudo-sacrifice, I openly announce my boycott against vagina hats. maga

No surprise there from the Satanists.

Hopefully every state can pass something similar and the people of Hollywood can get the f out of the country like they threatened to do when trump got elected 3 years ago

Hit them in the pocketbook!

Maybe abortion will no longer be used as birth control in some areas.

Block the steaming of online porn into Georgia until this is reversed. It’ll be reversed by Tuesday next week.

Georgia is doubly blessed.

mboorstein Great! Less traffic congestion in my neighborhood when they hopefully stop filming third rate horror films and violent programs. It will be better for the environment. You should see how many large vehicles are involved and how much garbage is left behind.

That's because they back the Hollywood pedophiles and luciferians.....

Feel free, your loss, not Georgia’s...

Let’s punish all women except when it’s their mistresses 🙄

Georgia is operating on principle; Hollywood is operating on greed and fascist tactics.

Disgusting...

Good.

No one cares. Protection of life is too important

Who cares?

Andy BravoTV BravoATLWives WalkingDead_AMC AMC_TV BravoMarriedMed have you read this law? You good with Georgia stripping women of control over their own bodies? Vote with your wallet. Stand up now or be complicit. boycottGeorgia

I was almost aborted. The doctor suddenly went out of town and when he came back my mom decided to keep me. Im glad she did but even if it went through, I wouldn't want that woman to have spent her life in prison or went to death row. You can call pullin out is murder these days.

We should boycott Hollywood for its many sick sadistic social perversions. This sick morally corrupt pedophilia Hollywood organization became incredibly rich & powerful, all while ruining the lives innocent children.

Hollywood North. Toronto is open for business.

Young women should consider moving out of Georgia.

Cool

THIS IS GREAT NEWS!!! Alyssa_Milano AoDespair MarkDuplass

They can support murdering children in their own State.

Someone has to stand up for what is right, even if it’s the left.

Proving Georgia cates more about saving babies lives than they do about money. Good for Georgia.

I only watch FoxNews anyways 🤷‍♂️

Hint: the people of Georgia could not careless. They do care about murdering the innocent.

States are not controlled by Hollywood Leftists. And Gov. Kemp showed them who is boss and it's not Alyssa Milano or her ilk. goodforhim

Bye!

gop wants to control a womans womb

Aren’t these the folks crying about whales and polar bears?

Good

It seems that many Georgians, like many voters in other states, are giving away their economic prosperity in order to gain social policies. That’s a very poor trade. Rural voters in the South are letting their emotions control their votes rather than taking a logical approach.

Good job Hollywood!

Well, there will probably be plenty of babies who can now grow up in Georgia and will be happy to do business in that state. And btw, these filmmakers might see a little boycotting from some of the public, including me, who pays their salaries.

CALLING THE ACLU!!

Why does HollyRude insist on being the voice of sin 1 Tim 2:15 'Yet she will be saved through childbearing—if they continue in faith and love and holiness, with self-control' sion 1 Tim 2:14 'Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor' Children👍

Why only some

Why do leftists care so much what Hollywood thinks? Try thinking for yourselves for a change.

They better add Tennessee, Alabama, Ohio and be prepared for more. Frankly less interested in what Hollywood makes than the independent projects these states may be able to attract with film credits.

Women should evacuate Georgia now. It’s unsafe for women. evacuateGeorgia waronwomen

I live in Georgia, and I can tell you that the filming of shows here is not just big business, it's a matter of pride for the politicians. I think it will either be reversed, or they will just grin and bear it until the court does it for them

👏👏👏👏

Now if only Coca-Cola would pull out of GA...

Did they forget Tennessee just passed the same bill last week ?

Georgia will be bankrupt if this law passes it will kill the economy.

I knew they would, and other companies too.

Hollywood has no heart so how could they recognize the heart beat of an innocent baby?

Silly law that only hurts the poor.

Keep your money out of that god forsaken hate filled state. I grew up there. They say they aren’t racist but I assure you they are very racist.

Now just waiting on Disney Marvel tylerperry WalkingDead_AMC archerfxx and about a dozen other productions

It is disgusting to see all those men (mostly white) voting on something that disproportionately affects women's lives and their bodies. Men shouldn't even be part of the equation as far as I'm concerned.

Hey Amazon Amazon, where are you on this? You pulled out of NY for a worse reason. Hey Amazon Customers, THINK!!! Make a difference in our world.

Hey Hollywood... Don’t let the screen door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya!

...and I am boycotting all Hollywood actors.

Just in the fiscal year 2017 film and TV production had an economic impact in Georgia of $9.5 billion. Lots of money to lose.

Hope the loss breaks the economy

It's Hollywood...who cares

Cincinnati OH is next.

It's funny how none of these production companies have actually worked in Georgia. Not much of a boycott.

Everyone should!

Who gives a crap.

Lucky Georgia

Flip this around: Hollywood filmmakers insist that Georgia allows & increases the killing of unborn children or they won't make films there anymore. Pretty MORBID, isn't it?

More to follow...

LoL Hollywood again

Georgia is going to take a serious financial hit, in fact hit after hit, as a result of their draconian law. Let the boycotts begin!

Does that include Tyler Perry?

oh no! what will we do now
