Staff Report PHENIX CITY – The Dothan Wolves took the early lead in the Class 7A showdown against Central-Phenix City, but the No. 1-ranked Red Devils took control after that to win 48-14 on Friday night.
On the first possession of the game Central quarterback Andrew Alford was intercepted by Ke’Aviyon Durry, putting the Wolves at the Central 10. Three plays later Tamarian Peterson ran it in for a 4-yard touchdown with 10:25 left in the first quarter. Wes Farmer added the extra point kick. Central scored again with 11:09 left in the second quarter when running back Zack Simmons ran in from 2 yards out to make it 14-7 after the PAT.
With 8:03 left in the third, Alford connected with Davion Bennett on a 19-yd touchdown to put Central up 27-7. The PAT failed.
