City officials believe the money could be enough to make street and infrastructure improvements as part of Dallas’ Vision Zero goals.

In Dallas, the recommendations call for changes such as better street lighting and lowering speed limits to 25 mph on residential streets. More sidewalks and paths, as well as new road configurations that could include speed bumps, fewer vehicle traffic lanes and more bike lanes are also on the table.

An estimated $30 million to achieve zero traffic deaths could be sought through a future bond that would require voter approval, Gus Khankarli, Dallas’ transportation department director, said during a presentation to the City Council last week. The fatal tally in Dallas mostly rose over that time period from 174 in 2015 to 199 in 2018. It decreased to 182 in 2019.

“Theorizing, I would speculate in 2020 less people were driving on the roadways. This led to higher speeds, which resulted in more injuries when accidents occurred,” Mitchell said.

But instead $300 million+ was spent on two bridges rather than things like Intelligent traffic lights and sidewalks.

Haha Still gonna be a sh*t hole and that's not gonna fix the Dallas idiots not knowing how to drive. But will raise yalls taxes. Dallas is becoming the worst city in America since all the idiots from Cali are coming here.
