The solution is not being a micro-managing, helicopter parent but encouraging independence with smart scaffolding strategies like these. We had to get an Ed Therapist involved and completely step out of the process when our teen (at 15) threw in the towel at school. Most parents are not able to manage this w/out 3rd party help.
