'It's just wrong any which way you look at it'

A woman claims she was wrongly fined £100 at a Nottingham car park after one of its machines broke. Ratna Patel was issued with the penalty charge notice after parking at Upper Parliament Street Car Park in the city centre.

"I've used it before and never had a problem," said Ms Patel, who is in her 50s and from Long Eaton. As she went to pay at a machine on November 13 she found it had broken. She said a parking attendant told her to go home and complete the payment online instead of directing her to another machine. However, the website would not accept her code or car registration, Ms Patel said.

"It's ridiculous when I'm trying to talk to them, it's their machine that was the problem. I'm trying to communicate with them but they're making it so difficult," she said.
