Machines were blamed for at least 750 fires over an 11-year period, the government has said. The fires have burnt out homes and destroyed possessions of victims - some of whom had no insurance. According to Whirlpool and Hotpoint my model if safe. It went on fire 4 weeks ago.
Bet the repair shop cleans up.
They ‘repaired’ ours, year later it went on fire - so much for improving our safety, eh? Of course, we won’t get a replacement or contribution to costs we incurred from whirlpool hotpoint. Still, at least we’ll also never have one of their shitty dangerous appliances again
all i got was a modification of my machine --had i been offered the refund i would have taken that i dont trust my machine now it only gets used when im indoors

My tumble dryer went up in smoke last week - it wasn’t a model on their recall list. Do be very aware, don’t leave unattended and make sure your smoke detectors are working (thanks goodness ours were) Engineer has been to assess but as yet no contact from company.
