Victoria Derbyshire has apologised for saying she would ignore coronavirus restrictions and break the rule of six in order to celebrate with her family at Christmas.
Suggest the BBC gives her an early Xmas present to celebrate with - her P45. She is supposed to be in a position of responsibility.
Wonder who is gonna get a ticking off now for not being impartial 🙄😂
I do believe that family comes first, it s not a party, it is just having their loves ones together for that special occasion. They should not fine her for having their parents home for Christmas.
Must have a personality disorder not doing everything the Government tells her to.
After all, why should she care about the NHS and other emergency workers whose Christmas will be made worse by entitled and priviliged people like her.
Is there a rule of six for the billionaires' pile in Sark? What are the corona rules there?
So will Dominic Cummings
Unfortunately, I think many people will. They believe you can cancel any day, but not Christmas. Maybe if that is the case, people need to test/ISOLATE 2 weeks before they meet and test again a few days before. So only family negatives meet on day.
Much like Conservative government chief advisor ignored the law to ”test eyesight.”
Just imagine the outrage had a Muslim presenter said that about Eid. She has escaped lightly over this.
Based.
She sounds smart
Put everything in God's hands ... ! 🙏 💒
Why would anyone pay an organisation whose representatives seem proud to break the law?
I’m certain that in the run up to Christmas these comments will look even more ill-judged and selfish than they do today. Especially so in NW England where we are almost at the point where we were at the peak of first wave.
Not really interested love.
I think she speaks for the entire country.
45,000 deaths and still counting. Ensuring Britain is a safer place for the rest of us, making a huge effort to reduce the spread of the virus, and leading by example ... BBC person with no scientific background whatsoever does her own thing.
Old news..
Arrogant
Is the BBC now endorsing this antisocial behaviour ?
Good. It's a dumb law worthy of a North Korean dictator not a Conservative government.
She is a white female middle class which means she can so as she wishes. Imagine me saying that. Whoops I hear sirens byeee
My parents are 77 & 80 - it’s their choice to make if they want to meet my brother, me and our families... they are more at risk than us.
I hope the BBC sack her for inciting others to break the law...even though I could give a toss about the rule just hate the BBC's double standards DefundBBC
And here is another great role model from the BBC. Probably can afford the fine but the mugs that follow her lead probably can't. Call me a cynic but I heard today she may be going on I'm a Celebrity get me out of here, is this a cunning plan to get the public behind her? 👎👎
Look forward to vicderbyshire's live broadcast from inside an ICU, filming people gurgling to death without their family present, but smiling and telling us all she had a lovely time
Can't blame her, but she can afford the fine.
I'm with you all the way, just use your initiative.... the rules are like this Government they don't have any apparent common sense.
All shhe did was say what we're all thinking out loud.
The arrogance of the lady is becoming a serious concern for British media. The audience just fades away.
Hope the BBC sack her
It’s never even occurred to me to take that ‘rule of 6’ advice seriously. The government needs to stop micro managing our lives
Fell from the ugly tree and hit every branch on the way down
Good for UK, more freedom for the mothership of the racism. The herd immunity is great for that losing country...
She is putting people at risk. A person is not free of the virus just because they are a family member
My wife works in a school in a year group of 90. My kids go to separate schools with year groups of 90. I use public transport to get to work. So between us we mix with over 300 households every day. The rule of 6 is bonkers.
Vitoria Derbyshire gets on my last nerve, she is the worst tv presenter...
Thick!!!
This statement is so irresponsible !!
She’s a champagne socialist, very clear she’s saying it just to be to contrary . She’s one of the first to pile on the government for not doing enough to control Covid
What a plank.
Why put your family at risk? There's no justification other than selfish ones.
I think most people will. The goverment have shown they cannot deal with the pandemic, the tier system is not working as cases are still rising in places like Blackburn. The goverment had a window to get it to a manageable level when we had the lock down. Tried to open to much.
Irresponsible and selfish comments. At least she’s now apologised.
Idiot
Good on her
I guess Victoria was only giving a summary of her collated views with regard to the adherence of rule 6 X-mas. Lots of Britons did posit acting in total disregard of D household ban. Sorry if I veered-off earlier. The Telegraph wouldn't let us read through on a platter of gold.
Refreshing !!😀
When they talk about the ‘rules don’t apply to them’ - it’s not really about conservative or labour, it’s about entitled middle class arseholes like her who can afford to pay fines and ordinary people who still need to go out and earn a living where they can.
As she is celebrating Christmas, she could meet them at church as they are still open...
Well done her it’s utterly stupid anyway
Quite right too, this is a religious festival and politicians have no right to interfere. And make sure you attend church on Christmas Day too, suitably masked.
Working BBCBreaking she can afford the fines.
Hope she doesn't mind losing a friend or family member
Selfish assholes gonna selfish asshole. When a family member dies, that’s on you.
Christians have already sacrificed Easter, GoodFriday and Holy Week. Enough is enough. Family first at Christmas.
