Tesco has started charging extra for something that shoppers have not had to pay for before and could soon add 10p onto the cost of one of their major product lines - as the supermarket giant trials charging for hangers.
Tesco said only a few stores are doing this trial but didn't say which ones or how many. One person on Reddit said it seemed like a "sneaky charge being imposed on customers" because they hadn't seen it before, reports the Mirror. Some customers saw this new 10p charge and talked about it online. "Now I work at this store, and I've never heard of this. I've also never seen anything around the store or around the clothes section. So either someone is trying to earn some extra Dosh or it's a sneaky charge being imposed on customers. Has anyone else had this? ".
Another person highlighted, "It's a trial. They are trying to discourage people from taking hangers as they usually just get chucked anyway. If Tesco can keep them, they can reuse them and therefore don't have to produce more. Little planet-saving steps."
