Asked if the Italian is the favourite, Eckner told talkSPORT: “He’s among three candidates and has emerged as someone who might become the next Bayern manager, who knows? A little while ago, but once they learned that he would stay at Bayer Leverkusen they pivoted away and looked at alternatives. The other two candidates are Franco Foda, who is currently managing the Austria national team and Julian Nagelsmann, who was sacked by Bayern last year. “He’ll be out of contract after the Euros and there had been discussions that he might be asked to come back because his sacking was premature and I think that’s what Bayern are realizing
