Ernie Conlon started experiencing shortness of breath and chest pains in 2015.

A Co Fermanagh man has opened up about discovering he had an inherited heart condition in his 60s which led to life-saving surgery.

Having worked for many years with his local football club, Ballinamallard FC and being a founder member of the Fermanagh/Milkcup SuperCup organisation, Ernie had always considered himself to be healthy. “It is thanks to organisations like BHF NI, who fund vital research into heart and circulatory diseases in Northern Ireland, that there continues to be improvements and advancements in this area.”

The town is leading the way in support for life saving with local businesses and sports clubs learning CPR and holding fundraising events. “With around 225,000 people in Northern Ireland currently living with some form of heart or circulatory condition, it has never been more crucial that we continue to raise awareness of these conditions to try to help save and improve the lives of those who are affected.”
