A motorist says he was"flabbergasted" to receive a £90 parking fine after taking a drive-through coronavirus test at a car park.
He said they were at the site in Enfield for 23 minutes and"didn't even leave the car the whole time".Photographer Mr Pugh, from Stoke Newington, east London, said:"At first I thought it was just a genuine fine, so I was about to pay it, but when I looked into where it happened and realised what it was, I was flabbergasted.
His vehicle's details had been logged - by a camera using number plate recognition - when it entered the car park. Then when it left without a parking ticket being bought in the meantime, that automatically triggered the fine.Drive-through test centres were introduced to ease pressure on health workers

Flabber my gast matey
And this is news 🤷♂️
What anorak sent this out
Erm, why was he the only one to receive a fine though? Surely if the system exists for fines in that car park then everyone going through would be triggering a fine?
Lamestream media. This is what happens when only 6 corporations own all media outlets....
Time to cough up
Welcome to healthcare 'American style'. Actually that would probably cost around $1000 over here.😂
You're shite BBCNews.
Well I hope the family all tested negative after all that!
Welcome to the club!
It's frustrating to read what a petty-minded,nasty little country we can be at times.
I'm sorry but this is not a fine. It is a parking charge. Who is writing your reports?
A mistake that was immediately acknowledged and the fine cancelled!!! What the fuck is wrong with the BBC!!
Company mistakenly issued fines and revokes them after an apology. .....
Wow outrageous and the mistake was rectified immediately must try and make more of this BBC labour party again
Dead cat
Ok it would annoy me too.. However, your report says that it was a mistake & they cancelled the ticket. Would you like me to let you know the next time I get overcharged in a restaurant? Try to focus on the stuff that really matters... I haven’t seen a skateboarding dog for ages!
Ticket cancelled, why is this news?
My question is if you go into such a car park and the place is full; drive to look for a spot and end up leaving without having the chance would you still get a fine? I guess yes!
My flabber has never been so gasted!
Save u the bother reading this none story... Drama queen got a parking ticket was issued in error and was cancelled.
If others had paid tickets surely they should be refunded,
Non-story, the company waived the charges as they should lol
Complete non story. If journalists are genuinely worried about the security of their profession. Knock this crap on the head.
It states it was ‘made in error’. It was a mistake! Good grief
Try 1600 and up to 5000 in Australia
£90 for a test then.
Hepworthclare What news story are you hiding today?
TheStephenRalph The last straw!
So, the headline should have read ‘company mistakenly issues parking fine’. Not nearly as melodramatic though. Could you possibly look in to this?
Is this really “news” in today’s world?
Ive had it myself, and how easy the dvla give out private details to these tin pot firms,im beggining to stop following the rules in this country ,nobody else does .....'em
Not news.
BBC obviously indicative of how far its standard are falling sad really..
Who shall we blame.........
It’s going to be reversed. What’s the big deal.
This. Isn't. News.
I was actually annoyed to find this total non-story in the morning briefing this morning, and now it's pursuing me on Twitter. It's the worst kind of news: negative, irritating, seeking to cause outrage - but at the same time utterly, utterly insignificant.
I once got fined in a near empty Barnstable town car park for obstruction of another parking space. My back end protruded into it to allow a clear passage for cars in front of me. Another person in a pick up received the same treatment. Both privately owned standard vehicles.
Not. A. Story.
these privatising bastards have been getting away with this since the 1980's time to bring an end to this piracy once and for all! no wonder they were all against Mr Corbyn, wake up people!!
Reader “flabbergasted” to receive tweet from BBC on a slow-news day.
The worries of UK citizens, BBC, the gravity....
Is 'Administrative error in parking fine' really a top news story
It’s just an error I suspect, automatic registration recognition when entering and leaving. Yes they should have thought about the testing stations, but hardly a news worthy story
I would wager is blaming somebody for this error? Is it the government again? Or is it white privilege? Or lack of diversity training? 🤔
This is not fucking news. The sooner they scrap the bbc license the Better 🤨
BBC reporting like a tabloid
CLICKBAIT: It was a system error and it was cancelled. But the BBC can't find anything important to write about nowadays. lyingTrump BlackLivesMatter BlackTransLivesMatter IStandWithJeremyCorbyn Covfefe19 trumpvirus boycottfacebook
FFS it was a mistake. I’m no fan of the governments response but it’s an unprecedented situation and mistakes are always going to happen.
How many others received tickets. This is just one person who came forward. Others probably paid. Absolute disgrace and should have been thought out before testing 😷
Sounds like a mistake and the tickets been cancelled. Shit happens.
The car park is obviously owned by an unethical company
Sounds like an elite kind of business. You just give me your money for nothing in return.
And takes it to the papers for 5 mins of fame and money !!
It’s cancelled so no story. Move on
Non story and boring!
We need people who are much less flabbergastable.
A parking ticket mistake that was rectified. Total non story unless it’s simply media trying to whip up a frenzy.
Don’t pay it simples .
