Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell reveals talks have begun to secure a new deal for 17-year-old midfielder Lennon Miller, who has attracted interest from Premier League clubs. Kettlewell emphasizes the importance of giving Miller playing time to further develop his skills.

Stuart Kettlewell admits Motherwell are desperate to get Lennon Miller tied down on a new deal after opening talks with the 17-year-old Fir Park ace.

“This is a brilliant place for him to be. Lennon has never made a secret of the fact he really enjoys his football here. Just over a year ago Stevie Hammell and Alan Burrows signed him on a three-year deal which was the maximum for his age. “When you get criticised for young players leaving before you think you can profit from them more then it’s not always down to the club. Sometimes you do everything possible to keep the player.”

“There’s something really nice about that. That innocence. He is a young lad who we threw on the pitch to see if we could get a bit of a reaction. “I’m really pleased with his reward and it was nice to see the senior players behind him at the end of the game and happy for him. It probably epitomises what this club should be.
