Mercedes reportedly have a 'Plan B' car up their sleeves to introduce during the F1 2023 season, should they decide to ditch their zero-pod philosophy.

Mercedes have reportedly got a ‘Plan B’ car in reserve for the F1 2023 season should they decide to scrap their zero-pod design philosophy.

It was expected that the new regulations ahead of the F1 2022 season would be quite restrictive, but the W13 was living proof that there was still scope for creativity with its radical zero-pod design.

Are you kidding? They didn’t see enough success from the rest of the grid along with the failure of their design? Might be the classic case of Mercedes being stubborn and the smartest guys in the room. I think their issues were ride height related more so then pod design.

2 car designs within budget cap. Can FIA really govern manufacturer teams.

This is grossly inaccurate and manipulated slightly. What Mercedes have said is if this concept doesn’t work this season they will be reverting to another design concept next season

Hilarious! Planning for failure! Good by me if it hastens Hamilton’s decision to retire.

Toto actually dgaf abt budget cap seeing how easily RB got away from it

Hahaha

They don't have a B car, they have planned upgrades like the other 9 teams. These upgrades will start happening after the first few races. You people seriously talk a whole lot of crap and make your own narrative at times.

how is that even possible, under the budget cap, unless they have a way of cheating it? i mean..developing 2 cars under one budget?

No one is scared

They are screwed if zeropods dont work.

So they spent time developing 2 different cars… not the best idea in our opinion. Doesn’t sound like they are very confident in their design if this is true

lmao this is definitely what you want to hear if you're a merc fan /s

This season about to be a right off.

Cost cap.

Thats a bad sign IMHO

The W14 Warthog is half second off already hahaha

Can’t wait to see a black red bull/Ferrari mid season if it doesn’t work with stickers on it

Doesn't sound good at all

Surely the costs involved in developing 2 cars would push them over the…well, you know!🥴💀

FIA nets $27m from 2023 F1 entry feesThe FIA has banked $26.7 million from collecting licence fees from the 20 Formula 1 drivers and their teams, an amount which Red Bull's Max Verstappen has called 'absurd'. I’m liking Max more and more everyday. So glad someone speaks up about this absurdity. Somebody has to cover expenses. This money will cover FIA's F1 operation and many other series. They cant go ask that from tiny semi-profesional teams. At the end F1 is turned out to be the football of motorsports. Some stars get absurd money the organising agency get absurd money and the teams try to stay afloat. It is too much money in stake and everyone wants to get some.
