A man's body was pulled from the water at Portobello beach in Edinburgh after a major search was launched following reports of a person in the sea.
Emergency services raced to the beach close to the Esplanade Terrace at around 2.15am on Sunday, October 29 after receiving reports of concern. The man, who has not yet been identified, is believed to have been retrieved from the water a short time later, but was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.
Police said they are still working to establish the identity of the individual but that they felt there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death at this time. A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 2.15am on Sunday, 29 October, police were called to a report of a man in the water near to Esplanade Terrace, Portobello.Top news stories today “There would not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.”
