Police arrested a 21-year-old man shortly after the incident in Watnall Road

A man was taken to hospital following an alleged serious assault by a Co-op store in a Nottinghamshire town. , Hucknall , and he remained in custody as of last night .

The incident happened just before 5pm on Friday afternoon, with a large police presence in the area. A Facebook post, which has been shared amongst locals, claimed at least seven police vehicles had blocked off Co-op's car park in response to the incident. Chief Inspector Iain Blackstock, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “Officers were called to Watnall Road, Hucknall, shortly after 5pm today following reports of a serious assault. A man was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-altering or life-threatening as a result of the assault.“Police arrested a 21-year-old man shortly after the incident and he remains in custody.
