Another 23-year-old man suffered serious injuries and was rushed to Southampton General Hospital for treatment.A woman, also 23, received chest wounds which are not life-threatening and is also being cared for at the hospital.Police were called to reports of an assault at the scene around 11.55pm, after what has been described as a ‘verbal dispute’.

The 14-year-old boy and three men aged 18, 20 and 29, who are all from Lymington, are being held in custody.A Hampshire Police spokesman confirmed officers attended the scene: ‘We were called at 11.55pm on Friday October 22 to reports of an assault outside The Royal British Legion on High Street, Lymington, following a verbal dispute.

‘On arrival, officers found three people – two men and a woman – with stab wounds.Police were called to reports of an assault at 11.55pm on Friday night (Picture: PA)‘Sadly, a 23-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

‘Another 23-year-old man sustained serious injuries, and is currently being treated at Southampton General Hospital.‘A 23-year-old woman received superficial wounds to her chest and is currently being treated at Southampton General Hospital. Her injuries are not life-threatening.

‘As part of our enquiries we have arrested four people on suspicion of murder.’Detective chief inspector Dave Storey, who is leading the investigation, said: ‘This is a serious incident and our thoughts remain with the family of the young man who was killed.

‘We believe this incident occurred following a verbal dispute at the Royal British Legion and we have arrested four people as part of our enquiries.‘Please be reassured that officers remain on scene and there will be increased patrols in the area.‘If you have any concerns, or any information about this incident, please do not hesitate to approach officers.’
