Ministers to delay ban on junk food multi-buy deals

However, health campaigners have criticised delays to the plans, and accused Boris Johnson's government of failing to tackle childhood obesity.

"Instead, he has given in to his own MPs, and an aggressive food industry, who, ironically, were starting to comply with these new policies."The costs of the NHS dealing with obesity in the UK are "vast" and it was time to "get a grip on it", says the PM. "This delay threatens the UK target to halve childhood obesity by 2030. Boris is playing politics with our children's health."

Lord Bethell, who previously served in Boris Johnson's government, told BBC Radio 4's Today programme that while he was "pro-choice", illnesses caused by excessive junk food consumption were placing a burden on the NHS and the taxpayer.

Ministers need to mind there own business and stop telling us what we should eat. Only reason two for one is going is so they can just squeeze more money out of us. Nothing more. They only care about our health when there is money init for them. Look at cigarettes. Everyone on

“Only the rich should be allowed to be luxuries”

Good

It's people choice to buy it or not.....

Real health is definitely not the agenda!

Why? Ban multi buys and increase the prices. There'd be no articles about people struggling to eat then

Sounds about right for this lot in charge, won't intervene to make fuel bills lower but will intervene to make food even more expensive. They don't care about us.

In the example in the photo, 2 for £1.20 is a good deal for a couple wanting one each. Why assume they are for one person? Why should a couple pay more than now?

Tories getting criticised for not artificially inflating the price of some foods at a time when inflation is high! People will find fault in anything.

Again, the liars take the easy road, tax the big killers like Mcdonalds out of business, that will help.

Do something about chomos than punishing people that can control themselves

Why? This is called choice, surely people can choose what they want, it's bad enough paying for a chocolate bar reduced in size for the same price.
