The woman has been named by police as Ruth Baker

A woman found dead in a Leeds home over the Easter weekend has been named by police as 48-year-old Ruth Baker.

Ruth was found at a house in Tempest Road, Beeston at around 1.16pm on Saturday, March 30. West Yorkshire Police said despite medical attention, she sadly died at the scene. George Chalmers, aged 53, of Tempest Road, Beeston, has been charged with her murder . He appeared at Leeds Crown Court via video link this afternoon and was remanded in custody until a further hearing on May 3.In a statement, Ruth’s family said: “We are saddened by our loss, however we want to remember her in a positive light and not be darkened by the circumstances of her death.”

West Yorkshire Police said on Sunday enquiries remain underway to ascertain the full circumstances of what took place, but at this stage the incident appears to be isolated and police are not seeking anyone else in connection with the matter.
