Hamas has rejected Israeli's latest ceasefire proposal, six months on from the October 7 attacks. Senior Hamas official Ali Baraka broke the news on Monday evening. It followed earlier suggestions from officials that no progress had been made during negotiations which took place in Cairo over the weekend.It comes as Israel's Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced there had been a 'date set' for a Rafah ground offensive.
It was the trigger for Israel's ongoing military action in the Gaza Strip, which has resulted in the deaths of more than 33,000 Palestinians, according to the territory's Hamas-run health authority, as well as mass displacement of the population and an ongoing humanitarian crisis.The Prime Minister said: "Today marks six months since the terrorist outrage of October 7 - the most appalling attack in Israel's history, the worst loss of Jewish life since the Second World War.

Israeli Special Forces Recover Body of Hostage Captured by HamasIsraeli special forces have recovered the body of a hostage captured by Hamas during the October 7 massacre. The IDF said the body of Elad Katzir, who was kidnapped from Kibbutz Nir Oz, was found in the southern city of Khan Younis. Israeli Twins Held Hostage by Hamas: Family Vows to Continue CampaigningThe brother of Israeli twins still being held hostage by Hamas has vowed that his family won't stop campaigning for them to be released until they are set free. Liran Berman's brothers Ziv and Gali were taken from the Kfar Aza kibbutz in Israel on October 7, among around 240 people seized by Hamas on a day when the terrorists also killed 1,200. Some 112 hostages have been released or freed so far, many through deals facilitated by Qatar, but Ziv and Gali were not among them.
