Israel is continuing to carry out 'targeted strikes' on Rafah. The ongoing military operation comes after Hamas accepted a ceasefire deal proposed by Egypt and Qatar. But Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel's prime minister, says the truce deal is far from acceptable.

During the 30-minute conversation earlier today, Mr Netanyahu also agreed to ensure that the Kerem Shalom crossing will be kept open for humanitarian assistance for those in need.
