Research suggests that lockdown has affected heavy drinkers the most, and that they are drinking more.

COVID-19: Thousands march in Sydney against latest lockdown restrictions amid surge in coronavirus cases"It was socially acceptable. But it slowly takes more and more of you away, until you don't really wake up.As someone who lives with long term health issues because of his dependency, he is not surprised that the COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increase in the number of deaths from alcohol-related conditions.

"Watching your little sister on life support for six days, after you've been told she'd survive for five minutes, you know, just waiting for her to die, is just awful," Sally said.Sally says her sister was a"functioning alcoholic"."She worked successfully in a number of jobs as an engineer.Sally shares Martin's fears that the pandemic, and the restrictions imposed to contain it, may well be a perfect storm for the growth of alcohol dependency.

They won't believe it the covid deniers. Nothings real and nothing exists.. only consperacies. And if you have a sugar tax for fat people why not up booze a bit more as this would help with money towards dealing with health and social issues due to over drinking.

Put down as covid deaths I presume

Well whatabout all the people who are dying from marijuana overdoses oh wait marijuana doesn't kill people like alcohol does

Absolutely this increase in alcohol related deaths is due to lockdown restrictions. These deaths are part of the collateral damage to public health and to the economy caused by lockdown. Those who hanker after longer lockdown clearly prefer to ignore such collateral damage.

What is often a missed side effect from Covid - alcoholism, mental health issues, undiagnosed cancer, list can go on.

UK farmers: tell us about the impact of Covid on seasonal workersWe would like to hear from UK farmers and agricultural workers about how their industry has been affected Corbyn's fault! They won't work for the pittance farmers got used to getting away with paying them. Leftists love this. Right?.......RIGHT? Yes, tell us it’s Covid rather than xenophobic Brexit that’s the problem. You can tell a paper is pushing a bullshit narrative when they have to fish with the public to create their story rather than, you know, find it yourself through journalism.
