How the UK’s vaccination programme currently stands468,617 have had two doses.
Israeli health minister Yuli Edelstein told The Andrew Marr Show:"We are just at the beginning of the [vaccination] campaign, we do see cases of people that after getting the first dose still get sick with the coronavirus. “Officers were forced, yet again, to put their own health at risk to deal with a large group of incredibly selfish people who were tightly packed together in a confined space - providing an ideal opportunity for this deadly virus to spread.
Mr Hancock spoke about the Brazilian and South African variants but didn’t have an exact number to put on how they interact with the vaccine. So what could those increased restrictions look like? "But I guess the overwhelming message to the public would be don't panic, the scientists are assessing the evidence, we have regular meetings with Sage, if you get a call for the vaccine, come forward have the vaccine and I'm sure that there will be an assessment of that evidence and hopefully the government will be much more transparent about the basis on which they're making those decisions.
She said we don't know if those who have been vaccinated will be fully protected once they have the second jab, because the vaccine schedule"has been changed". Although they still believe it is necessary, a delayed second dose will"save many, many lives", Mr Harnden said. "That is why we have made this decision and it is essentially to save the most lives fastest and you can totally understand why we've done this.""We can't risk the progress we have made", he said.
"It is absolutely vital" we protect this country from a variant that might not respond as well to vaccines, Mr Hancock added.Restrictions won't tighten as yet, but"we are a long, long way" from restrictions lifting, Mr Hancock said.As a result, people need to make sure they self-isolate to break chains of transmission.
He said a critical question at the moment is how a person who has been vaccinated might pass on the virus.
Here come the conspiraboomers!
Now that you are quoting percentages, how about quoting the percentage that the 30k postive tests are of total tests that day. 5% is what the WHO say is 'under control' Scotkand issues this percentage every day Westminster hide it WHY?
If things carry on as they are, we will be over the threshold of 100,000 deaths by end of week.. well done that government, is this what you meant by leveling up the country, didn't realise you meant leveling as in flat on your back dead.. incompetence off the scale
That means hopefully the restrictions are starting to work. Nobody can say the vaccines roll out has been nothing but fantastic. Even the government haters, the disbelievers or even the anti-vacs; because it has been fantastic.
Why are second doses still being given?
