Residents of a Nottinghamshire village have expressed fears new homes will flood more often. Peveril Homes' plan for 81 homes to be built off Main Road, Jacksdale, will soon be decided at Ashfield District Council's planning committee on November 1.
"Local infrastructure will also be unable to cope with the development of the site, in addition to the amount of development also planned for nearby villages. Development of the site could also encourage further development on the adjacent land to be brought forward." The Environment Agency and Severn Trent Water raised no objections to the plan, as long as adaptation methods ensured the new homes were not susceptible to increased risk from flooding caused by climate change. The developer stated there would be "no impact to flooding offsite" in a planning document.
