A community has rallied together in memory of their friend

Dr John Rowlands, from Maghull in Sefton , died two years ago in in November 2022, aged 83. Dr Rowlands was said to have been the heart of his community after founding the Westway Medical Centre in Maghull and helping hundreds of people over the years.

Friend and colleague of John, Dr Frank Sharp told the ECHO: "He was the best friend they ever had. He co-founded the medical centre and it was a lovely thing. They called it the Westway Medical Centre One of Dr Sharp's favourite stories of his friend was one from a trip to Kathmandu which he says "sums up who he was as a person." He said: "He was on holiday once travelling and was buying an ice cream, a kid was watching him and he knew he wanted an ice cream so he bought him one. Next thing he knew there was a line of kids wanting ice creams and he bought them all one. That just sums him up as a person, how much of a kind and warm person he was.
