Douglas McWilliams, its founder, said the overall cost of coronavirus to the travel industry could be more than £20billion.: "The peak summer months of July, August and September would [normally] bring in over £9billion from inbound tourism. Dr Steven Freudmann, chairman of the Institute of Travel and Tourism, said the quarantine was a “stake through the heart” of the industry.
