Sarah joined the BBC in 1997 - and will depart for a new role in the West Midlands

A familiar voice for BBC Radio Nottingham morning listeners has expressed her hopes to return to the station. Sarah Julian, who joined the BBC in 1997, made the 'surreal' announcement about her move to the West Midlands.

She then posted a clip of her announcement on X thanking everyone for their "wonderfully kind" messages. People were then quick to express their support and best wishes in the comments. "You are the best of local broadcasting and Notts will miss you." Another listener, Amanda Needham, said: "Hearing you say it makes it more real, really, really hope you do come back.Sarah was one of eight BBC journalists recognised for their interviews with former Prime Minister Liz Truss after the Government's chaotic mini-budget in late 2022. Sarah was honoured with the Broadcasting Press Guild Jury Prize last year.
