A new Islamic school, regeneration around a train station and a new Lidl are some of the significant developments put before Greater Manchester this week.
The café, along with a shop and a rebuilt boathouse are the subject of a planning application by Pilsworth Fishery, which operates three lakes off Moss Hall Road in Bury. The main lake was originally dug in the mid 19th century to serve the Pilsworth Clough Mills bleach works. Manchester Communication Academy, on Silchester Drive, hopes to increase the number of pupils per year to 300, meaning it has 1,500 students in total — after it’s emerged some children in the area will need to travel further for the nearest school place. To make that happen, it hopes to build two new teaching blocks and two new multi-use games areas .
An application to open The Big Manchester Bake has been submitted, to be located at the New Bailey development, occupying nearly 4,000 sqft of space. If approved, it promises visitors a 'multi award winning engaging 90-minute baking competition experience', as well as hospitality spaces and an outdoor terrace area.
