Mountain rescue teams were contacted on May 9 after a hiker failed to make contact with anyone following a walk from Seathwaite to Scafell Pike in Cumbria.
Having been notified of a missing person, rescuers from the Wasdale team along with Keswick MRT, Duddon and Furness MRT and Langdale Ambleside MRT were called out for early morning searches.A second phase of searches was then planned out with requests for help from all other Lake District teams. Search dogs, drones and a coastguard helicopter rescue were also deployed specific areas. Despite their extensive efforts, the walker had still not been found by the end of the day and the search resumed the following morning.A spokesperson for Wasdale Mountain Rescue said: "Our sincere condolences go to the walker’s family and friends. Our thoughts are with you all.
"Thanks to all that supported this significant multi agency team effort. We are very grateful for the help."
