Rain or Shine stumbled through another bad start, leading to a 115-61 beating at the hands of US NCAA Division 1 squad UC Irvine to close its Williams Jones Cup campaign on a losing note on Sunday, Aug. 20 at the Taipei Heping Gymnasium.

A cold-shooting night that saw the Elasto Painters shoot 1-of-20 in the opening quarter, including 10 missed attempts from three-point zone practically sealed their doom as the collegiate American squad sped off to a 26-6 start. The Americans, who virtually sealed the Jones Cup crown following their win over Chinese Taipei A, poured the heat from there en route to the one-sided victory.

ROS import Nick Evans got ejected during the 4:56 mark of the first quarter following an unsportsmanlike foul after shoving an American player, and a technical foul for verbal altercation with the UC Irvine head coach.Derin Saran led the Americans with 23 points while forwards Emilis Butkus and Devin Tellis added 18 and 16 as UC scored an eight-game sweep of the tournament.
